PROGRAMS

Celebration of Cultures - Plans are well underway for the 2007 Celebration of Cultures event, on September 30, 12-4 p.m. in partnership with James City County Parks and Recreation. Come join us at Chickohominy Riverfront Park for an afternoon of family, fun, food, music and dance. “Diversity is a good thing!”

We are seeking food vendors, exhibitors, musicians, dancers that represent the rich cultures of our community. Call 259 5353 for information.

Study Circles - A community-wide program in which racially, economically and socially diverse citizens participate in group sessions. Study Circle members meet four to six times to learn about community issues in a democratic and collaborative way. Trained facilitators lead the study circles and focus on the issues of race and diversity

Leadership Conferences, Education Forums and Award Programs - Activities are offered based on information gathered from community members and identified community issues, needs and concerns.

Brown Bag Lunch Discussions - the first Friday of each month at noon at the Williamsburg Library on Scotland Street. Check calendar page for topic, bring your lunch and join in.

Film Series - Films that are racially or ethnically focused are provided for public viewing and comment. Films are shown in conjunction with racial and ethnic awareness and heritage months.

All activities are open to the public and most are offered free.
